Now — The Peace

''Now — The Peace'' is a film produced in 1945 by Stuart Legg for the National Film Board of Canada for its series ''The World in Action''. Over its 21-minute running time with unaccredited narration by Lorne Greene, circumstances leading to the formation of the United Nations are discussed. Topics include the post-World War One era with the League of Nations, the League's ineffectual handling of pre-World War Two aggressiveness, and post-war needs. This short film looks at the plans made at the Dumbarton Oaks Conference for a renewed international organization devoted to world peace - the United Nations.
The film was produced by the NFB at the suggestion of Archibald MacLeish, then-Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs for the U.S. government.
